Photometric Study of Variable Stars in the Open Cluster NGC

چکیده
We report the discovery of 19 variable stars and two blue–stragglers in the field of the open cluster NGC 6866. Three of the variable stars we classify as δ Sct, two, as γ Dor, four, as W UMa, two, as ellipsoidal variables, and one, as an eclipsing binary. Seven stars show irregular variability. Two of the pulsators, a δ Sct star NGC 6866-29 and a γ Dor star NGC 6866-21, are multiperiodic. From an analysis of proper motions, we conclude that the δ Sct stars, one of the γ Dor stars and both blue–stragglers are very probable members of the cluster. The position on the color-magnitude diagram of seven other variables suggests that they also belong to the cluster. The eclipsing binary, which we discover to be a new high-velocity star, and the seven irregular variables are non-members. Then, we discuss in detail the age and metallicity of open clusters that host γ Dor stars and we show that none of these parameters is correlated with the number of γ Dor stars in cluster.

In this paper we revise and complete the photometric survey of the instability strip of the southern open cluster NGC 2516 published by Antonello and Mantegazza (1986). No variable stars with amplitudes larger than 0 m .02 were found. However by means of an accurate analysis based on a new statistical method two groups of small amplitude variables have been disentangled: one with periods < 0 d ...
متن کاملSearch for variable stars in the open cluster NGC 7654
Time-series CCD photometry of the open cluster NGC 7654 was performed over five nights from October 2nd to 18th, 1997 U.T., in order to search for new variable stars. We also carried out UBV photometric observations to obtain physical parameters of variable stars in the cluster. We have derived the distance modulus of (V − MV )◦ = 10.9 ± 0.2 and the interstellar reddening of E(B − V ) = 0.62 ± ...

We present a study of variable stars in globular cluster NGC 6401. The cluster is only 5. ◦3 away from the Galactic Centre and suffers from strong differential reddening. The photometric precision afforded us by difference image analysis resulted in improved sensitivity to variability in formerly inaccessible interior regions of the cluster. We find 23 RRab and 11 RRc stars within one cluster r...
متن کاملA Rotational and Variability Study of a Large Sample of PMS Stars in NGC 2264
We present the results of an extensive search for periodic and irregular variable pre-main sequence (PMS) stars in the young (2–4 Myr) open cluster NGC 2264, based on photometric monitoring using the Wide Field Imager (WFI) on the 2.2 m telescope on La Silla (Chile). In total, about 10600 stars with IC magnitudes between 9.8 mag and 21 mag have been monitored in our 34 ×33 field. Time series da...
متن کاملSurvey for Transiting Extrasolar Planets in Stellar Systems Iv: Variables in the Field of Ngc
The Survey for Transiting Extrasolar Planets in Stellar Systems (STEPSS) project is a search for planetary transits in open clusters. In this paper, we analyze the STEPSS observations of the open cluster NGC 1245 to determine the variable star content of the cluster. Out of 6787 stars observed with V < 22, of which ∼ 870 are cluster members, we find 14 stars with clear intrinsic variability tha...
